# AEO Agent: Get Your Business Cited in AI Answers

> The AEO Agent is an AI agent in the Ai1 platform by MyZone AI for answer engine optimization: it checks whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini name your business when buyers ask about your category, tracks your AI visibility every week, and tells you what to fix, working with each service you connect (their usage costs apply).

Buyers now ask AI who to hire. See every week if it names you or a rival.

## At a glance

- **AI engines covered:** ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini, every week (each service you connect; their usage costs apply)
- **Questions tracked:** About ten buyer questions, mostly unbranded, that you approve
- **How often it checks:** Every week
- **What you get:** A branded dashboard updated every week and a monthly trend report
- **The score:** An AI Visibility Score that combines citation rate, share of voice and engine coverage
- **Setup:** 5 steps, with your approval of the questions at step 1
- **What it never does:** Edit your website or publish content

## What the AEO Agent does

- **Asks AI what your buyers ask:** Runs a set of real buyer questions through the major AI answer engines and records whether you are named, a competitor is named, or no one in your category comes up.
- **Tracks your citation rate:** Takes a fresh reading every week, so you can see whether your share of AI mentions is rising, flat or slipping.
- **Maps share of voice against competitors:** Shows who is winning engine by engine and where the gaps are, so you know which engines and questions to focus on.
- **Traces where citations come from:** When an engine cites someone, it often draws on a review site, a forum thread, a Wikipedia page or a news story. The agent surfaces those sources so you know what shapes the answers.
- **Rolls it into one score:** An AI Visibility Score combines citation rate, share of voice and engine coverage into a single number you can follow over time.
- **Recommends specific next steps:** Every monthly report ends with concrete actions tied to the data: which sources to strengthen, which engines to prioritise and which questions still leave you out.

## How the AEO Agent differs from AEO tracking tools

A tracking tool gives you a dashboard and leaves the reading to you. The AEO Agent is a managed agent: it agrees the buyer questions with you, puts them to the AI engines every week with no work from you, traces the sources behind the answers, and ends each monthly report with a short list of fixes ranked by impact. Your team or other Ai1 agents carry them out, only with your approval.

## How it works

1. **Agree the questions** (you approve) (Onboarding): In a short onboarding session you confirm your category and main competitors, and it drafts about ten buyer questions, mostly unbranded, for you to approve.
2. **Take a baseline** (Onboarding): It puts every question to each AI engine, records who is cited and calculates your starting score.
3. **Open the dashboard** (After the baseline): Results appear in a branded dashboard showing citation rate by engine, share of voice, sources and your score trend.
4. **Re-check weekly** (Every week): The full question set runs again each week, so the dashboard always reflects a current reading with no work from you.
5. **Report monthly** (Every month): Once a month you get a trend report covering what moved, where citations came from and a short list of actions for the month ahead.

## When to use it

- **You want to know if AI tools recommend you:** It runs your tracked questions across the engines and shows exactly where you appear and where you do not.
- **You are not sure how you compare with competitors in AI search:** It maps share of voice by engine and shows who is ahead, who is gaining and where the openings are.
- **You want to know what drives AI citations in your market:** It traces mentions back to reviews, forums and editorial coverage, so you know which outside sources are worth investing in.
- **You want a regular pulse on AI visibility:** It samples every week and sends a trend report every month, with a score and a short action list.

## What you get

- A tracked set of buyer questions agreed with you
- A baseline AI Visibility Score and share of voice reading
- A branded dashboard updated every week
- A monthly trend report with a competitor gap map
- Source attribution showing which sites shape AI answers
- A prioritised list of content and structural fixes

## Example AEO reports

Two runs of the AEO Agent: one on a well-known consumer brand, one on our own small business. Pick a report to see what it found.

### Example AEO report (public data)

To show what you get, we ran the AEO Agent ourselves on a well-known consumer brand, using public information only.

Method: 12 buyer questions (9 about the category, 3 naming the brand), each asked of ChatGPT (GPT-4o), Claude and Perplexity on 29 September 2026, from public information only. Gemini was not part of this run or any score. Google AI Overviews has no public API. Run date: 29 September 2026.

#### What the engines said

- AI engines know YETI well: it was named in 33 of 36 answers across ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, and it was named first in 25 of them.
- Being named is not the same as being linked. ChatGPT and Claude answered without links. Perplexity linked to yeti.com 10 times, in 4 of its 12 answers, and linked most often to review sites such as The New York Times' Wirecutter, Switchback Travel and OutdoorGearLab.
- Value rivals share the conversation: RTIC had the highest share of voice among the tracked competitors (24%, against YETI's 37%). When asked whether YETI is worth the price, the engines pointed to the high price and cheaper options such as RTIC.

Example based on public AI answers from 29 Sep 2026, quoted as returned. Not affiliated with or endorsed by YETI. Brand owner? Email legal@myzone.ai for removal within 5 business days.

**Example report: excerpts.** We ran this report ourselves on 29 September 2026, using only publicly available AI answers, to show what our AEO Agent produces. YETI is not a MyZone client, has not reviewed this example, and does not sponsor or endorse MyZone. MyZone is not affiliated with YETI or with any other brand, publisher or AI company shown. The results come from 12 buyer questions put to ChatGPT (GPT-4o), Claude and Perplexity on that date. They show what those AI engines said on that day, which changes over time and by question. They are not a ranking or review of any company's products. AI answers are shown word for word as each engine returned them. They are the engines' statements, not ours, and we have not verified them. Some sections of the full report are not shown.

YETI, RTIC, Hydro Flask, Stanley, Coleman, Igloo, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and other names shown are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to identify them.

### Example AEO report: our own company

Our own company, run 29 Sep 2026. Asked without our name, AI named us in 0 of 8 answers. This is the gap the agent works on.

Method: 6 buyer questions (4 asking for help without naming MyZone AI, 2 naming it), each asked of ChatGPT (GPT-4o, web search) and Perplexity (web search) on 29 September 2026. The scores cover those two engines only. Gemini was not part of this run or any score. Claude was left out because our Claude connection was not neutral on questions about us. Google AI Overviews could not be checked automatically, so it is not included. Run date: 29 September 2026.

#### What the engines said

- When small-business owners asked for help without naming MyZone AI, it was named in 0 of 8 answers on ChatGPT and Perplexity, and none of the 159 links in those answers went to myzone.ai. 7 of the 8 answers named other firms instead, mostly local AI automation agencies. One ChatGPT answer listed nine Vancouver-area firms, although MyZone AI is based in Burnaby.
- Asked about MyZone AI by name, both engines named it first in all 4 answers and described it accurately, in a neutral tone. But the evidence came mostly from MyZone AI's own site (48 of 81 links; ChatGPT used only myzone.ai).
- There is little independent proof for the engines to draw on. The G2 profile Perplexity linked shows 0 reviews. The 'cons' Perplexity listed (learning curve, support response times, limited mobile app) came partly from a templated review page with generic pros and cons. The price it quoted (managed plans from about $5,000/month) matches MyZone AI's pricing page.

Excerpt: some sections of the full report are not shown.

## Guardrails

- It monitors and reports only. It never edits your website or publishes content.
- Any fixes it recommends are carried out by other agents or your team, and only with your approval.
- You review and confirm the tracked questions before tracking starts, and it re-baselines if you change them so trends stay comparable.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is an AEO agent?

An AEO (answer engine optimization) agent is an AI agent that checks whether AI answer engines name your business when buyers ask about your category. The AEO Agent in Ai1 by MyZone AI puts about ten buyer questions you approve to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini every week, records who is cited and which sites shape the answers, and ends each monthly report with a short list of fixes. It works with each service you connect, and their usage costs apply.

### How is AEO different from SEO, and is it the same as GEO?

SEO is traditional search work, like keywords, site audits and Search Console; answer engine optimization is about whether AI answer engines name and cite your business. The two build on each other: the search basics, like authority, clean structure and fresh content, are what AI visibility rests on. In Ai1 the SEO Agent does the SEO work, and the AEO Agent tracks and reports on the AI answers. AEO and generative engine optimization (GEO) are mostly two names for the same goal: being named and cited in AI-generated answers, often called AI search visibility. The AEO Agent measures that goal directly, engine by engine, across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini.

### How are the tracked questions chosen, and how often does the data update?

During onboarding it drafts about ten questions that reflect how real buyers search your category. Most are unbranded problem or category questions, and the rest ask about alternatives to competitors. You review and confirm them before tracking begins. The full question set runs every week, so you are never looking at a picture that is months old. If your offer or market shifts, ask for a refresh: it runs a new baseline with the updated set so your trend data stays consistent.

### What is the AI Visibility Score, and will the AEO Agent change our website?

One number that combines how often you are cited, your share of voice across engines and your coverage on each engine. It rises when AI tools mention you more and falls when competitors pull ahead. The AEO Agent does not change your website or content. It watches and reports. Content, website and PR actions it recommends are handled by other agents or your team, with your approval.
